How we transfer tapes
We play tapes on professional machines made for older formats. That gives us the best picture and sound while we capture each tape to a digital file. We check the player settings so the colors and speed stay true to the original.
If a tape is sticky, stretched, or tangled, we stop and assess it. Small fixes let us finish the transfer. We save video files in MP4 so they work on most devices, and we put every file on a labeled USB drive so you know what’s what.
Repairing damaged tapes
Some tapes need repair before they can be played. We can splice broken tape, remove folds, and carefully clean sticky tape that would otherwise ruin a playback machine. We always explain the condition before we start any repair work.
If a tape is too damaged to play safely, we’ll show you the problem and suggest options. Often we can recover at least part of the video so you won’t lose the whole memory. You’ll get clear information and choices.
Playback and file options
You can choose the file quality and how you want the final files delivered. Most folks pick MP4 for easy viewing on phones and TVs. We offer extra copies on USB or DVD if you want backups for family members.
We test each file before we give it to you so the picture and sound play smoothly. If you need help playing the file at home, we’ll walk you through it or provide simple instructions.
